The Warman Multi-Purpose Facility Committee Inc. is holding its final year of annual fundraisers in support of the construction of a second arena for The Legends Centre in Warman, SK. The final Celebrity Dinner in August 2019 and the April 2020 WSCV NHL Hockey Draft Spectacular and Adult Community Hockey Event will be the last events and signal the wrap-up of the WSCV Committee. As the WSCV committee nears its goal of a $500,000, it means the conclusion of fundraising events hosted by the WSCV. While WSCV events are still thriving, it is time to allow other local groups an opportunity to take the reins and raise funds for a new causes in Warman. The annual WSCV Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction has brought to Warman popular sports celebrities since 2007 including Kelly Hrudey, Michael Clemons, Walter Gretzky, Mike Babcok, Trevor Linden, George Reed, Don Narcisse, Bryan Trottier, Wendel Clark, P.K. Subban, Chris Pronger, Anthony Calvillo, Tim Rains, George St-Pierre, Joe Carter, Holly Holms, Doug Gilmour, Paul Coffey, Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz. This year’s guests are Shane Doan, Scott Niedermeyer, Ken Hitchcock and Tyson Nash. As usual, audience members have a chance to meet the guests and hear their fascinating stories. Drew Remenda is returning as Master of Ceremonies. This year will be the final Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction, and the last WSCV NHL Hockey Draft Spectacular and Adult Community Hockey Tournament will be held in the spring of 2020. The Warman Multi-Purpose Committee was founded in 2004 by a group of local individuals who saw the need for a year-round complex that residents of Warman and surrounding area could access for all of their sport, culture and recreational needs. Through numerous donation campaigns and fundraisers this dream became a reality when The Legends Centre first opened its doors in December of 2011. This 100,000 sq./ft facility features a regulations size arena, leisure ice surface for young skaters, two large multi-sport gymnasiums, three multi-purpose rooms and boardrooms. There are a variety of on-site businesses including Booster Juice, Subway, Twinses Café and Restaurant, Anytime Fitness, Pro Sport Rehab and Warman Sports Inc. Since the opening of The Legends Centre Warman has seen an increase in the formation of new community groups and the expansion of existing ones. The Warman Multi-purpose Committee began to see a need for more ice time and shifted their total fundraising goal of $500,000 for the addition of a second ice surface for The Legends Centre. The WSCV committee would like to thank those who have supported each of the fundraising efforts since inception in 2004. Without donations and endless volunteer hours by many individuals, groups and businesses this fundraising goal would never have been achieved. Thank you for choosing to support the growth of Sport, Culture and Recreation services in the community of Warman! Together we are changing lives and creating healthy and positive choices for our future generations.

Some our furry friends and their owners are about to embark on a new class set to begin June 27th. Tammy Hein, Warman business owner of Tammys Training Canine Services, offers the Reactive Dog Class to have dogs work through a series of challenges. The goal is to achieve a comfort level in various situations for dogs, this class provides the dogs a place where they feel safe when they start to get overwhelmed. In this class, we are working with dogs who over-react to something. This could be out of excitement "All of the dogs work within their own comfort level," says Tammy Hein, "Usually by the 6th week the dogs are much more comfortable together. Those that were not able to be in the same room as another dog can walk parallel with them with no issues." This 6 week course isn't going to completely fix your dogs reactive tendencies; however, it will give tools to get you going in the right direction. Training and support doesn't end there, "We also have a facebook group for all of our reactive dog students so they can find other like-minded dog owners who are facing the similar challenges." says Hein. Tammys Training Canine Service offers other classes this summer: Wednesday, July 10th-Aug 14th. Dog Training for Kids. Monday, July 15th-Aug 26th. Intro to Rally Obedience 6:30 pm.
