It seemed questionable whether they would be able to play on Saturday due to wet diamonds, but parents, coaches and other community members pulled together to get a couple of diamonds going Saturday morning despite the puddles that had been there the night before. All games continued for the weekend. After handily beating Regina Kaos and Prince Albert Aces the Angels suffered a loss against the Saskatoon Co-op Selects Saturday evening but still ended up in second place in round robin play. Another game against the Saskatoon Co-op Selects Sunday morning resulted in a win giving them a bye straight to the final where they met the Saskatoon Co-op Selects yet again. They played hard to top them again for an exciting gold medal win. Coach Jason Larner said of the provincial playoff weekend, “The girls played the team game we have worked hard all year to put together on the field. They played solid defense, were disciplined at the plate and aggressive on the bases.” The team is now getting ready for tough competition in Kitchener, Ontario. “The girls are excited as we prepare for Nationals. We hope to continue our success there.” Masen Sideroff has played for the Twin City Angels since the creation of the club in 2013. She says, “I’m so proud of all my girls and the effort put into the great weekend of ball we had. I am excited to see what comes for us on the next step!”
