Kids and sports. Such an important combination that, at first glance, may not seem like a big deal. But actually it is. With the prevalence of computer and video games, many kids are leading sedentary lifestyles making the opportunity for them to play organized sports particularly crucial. Some families in Warman and area face financial obstacles and are not able to enroll their kids in sports without financial assistance from organizations such as KidSport. KidSport believes that all children should have the chance to play. Not only are there the obvious physical benefits of sports such as increased strength and stamina and better balance and coordination, but social, emotional and moral development as well. Kids learn how to be a team player as well as developing leadership skills that will help them in all areas of their lives. The goal of KidSport is to provide these children with the opportunity to achieve physical, social, intellectual and moral development through participation in sport. If all children have the opportunity to play, learn self-respect, gain self-confidence, adopt active and healthy lifestyles, and realize dreams through sport, then these children may have a better chance of becoming contributing members and leaders in our communities.” (Kidsportcanada.ca) May is KidSport Month The Warman and Area KidSport Committee is a hard-working group focused on raising funds for local children to participate in athletics.
